Paint the Town Red

What red nail polish says about you:

"Those who choose a darker red are feeling sexy and sensuous."
"You're sultry, devilish with a retro flair. You love victory rolls, platform shoes, and cancer sticks.    You wouldn't be caught dead in anything not form-fitting and you typically have a red lip to match. You are woman, hear you roar!"
"Fire-engine red nails tells others that you are daring, outgoing, and highly confident."

The weather has finally stayed warm for more than a day at a time! I love the beginning of summer (still technically ten days away), when the days are sunny and the temperatures stay in the low twenties, yet the nights are cool making it ideal for sleeping. It's the perfect time of year, if only every day could be like this! With the delightful weather the bf, Kobe, andI took a walk for the season's first ice cream cone.

Red Revolution

                                                        After                                                                          Before

I'm oh so excited about today's style post! I did this skirt some time ago and while I have been wearing the hell out of it I had yet to take some photos in it. So here we are.
My heart had been desiring a full mini skirt in dark blue ever since I discovered red and blue were meant for each other. And after seeing my girl T-Swift rock this outfit here. I shopped around and could not find what I wanted so I decided to resort to my own abilities- or lack thereof. I have three A-line skirts that fall below the knee and I absolutely adore them. The problem lies in my city's climate, it's never the right temperature for a longer skirt worn with flats.
What I love about this skirt is that I get so much use out of an item I was never wearing!

Lately I've been obsessed with wearing red, white, and blue. I'm beginning to feel as if I'm in a constant mode of Independence Day celebration! I'm the type of person that will be become completely engrossed in their interests. Take for example the song You by Atmosphere, if you saw my itunes and the number of times I have played that song in the last week... it's bonkers! This colour combination will definitely be my daily uniform for awhile.

Wild for Red

Outfit: Skirt (DIY), Shirt (Thrifted), Bag (Garage sale), Belt (Garage Sale)

My obsession with the colour red continues, as is evident through this second style post since my new-found love. It all started with red lipstick and who knows when and where it will end!
Every year a more up-scale neighborhood in my city throws a giant garage sale. There are endless streets of yard sales, hot dog and lemonade stands littered everywhere, and countless crowds of people. We started early so we could get at the good stuff before it was gone. I was on the hunt for all things red of course! I got some pretty spectacular items. I found a small collection of old books and upon seeing them the nerd could not be happier! One of them is The World's Famous Orations, published in 1901! It has always been a dream of mine to have a room in my home with floor to ceiling bookshelves (I think this is called a library, haha). This room also has dark leather armchairs and a mahogany wood desk situated in the middle of the room- presidential style. So needless to say, I have already started my book collection for that room I one day will have. I have over 350 books, so I'm on the right track!
This garage sale is also where I stumbled upon this red belt, an accessory I have not been able to stop wearing, for a mere fifty cents. No mistype there, best fifty cents I have ever spent!

Until we meet again,
The Rag Trade
