Quill & Quire

Lately, when I've been twisting my hair in my fingers, I've toyed with the thought
of cutting all that length off. Think Marion Cotillard with her tousled wavy bob.
You know when your life seems stagnant and it screams for some spontaneity?
When every day is the same and it all meshes into one ambiguous day? Now, I
know cutting my hair would only be a momentary remedy and not a true adieu
to the ceaseless boredom. I need real change. I don't know, maybe this all can
be accredited to cabin fever, but a little change would do me some good.
Ever since I grew bored of solid colours and decided to venture into the world of
prints, I've wanted a black and white polka dot skirt. I searched and I searched
until finally I came across precisely what my heart desired. As you can see, I'm not
wearing any polka dots...that skirt can be found atop the mass of clothes on my
bed. Do you ever find yourself in a style rut where all the outfits you are drawn
to are for the season to come and not the one you are in? I have spring in my mind
right now, ladies! In summer, all I wanted was the ability to layer and some cozy
sweaters. In the middle of winter I find myself drawn to t-shirts and ankle boots.
Darn fickleness. Clearly, someone needs to learn to live in the moment.

  1. Love this look! Your socks look so warm and cozy. You inspire me to wear dresses in winter more often!

  2. haha, I'm definitely dressing for spring practically all the time--I just want it to be a cool, constant 60 degrees so I can wear skirts and dresses and maybe tights without a jacket. :D Ah, those are the days!

Eep, your hair is so beautiful here *____* I'm sure you'd look darling with your hair cut off, too, though, because you have such a lovely face shape! And I adore your red lipstick, too.

  3. Haha I know, I'm trying to enjoy all the layering I get to do now, but it's hard when I've got spring and summer on my mind!
I think you look absolutely lovely in this ensemble though Samantha, it's one of my favorites! The red beanie, leopard skirt, matching brown colors...ahhh, I love it :D
And I've actually kept toying with the idea of cutting my hair off too! I'm craving change, but I'm too scared of getting rid of my length. I've always had medium to long hair all my life.

  4. Personally, I love your long locks, but really enjoyed cutting mine much shorter too. Good luck deciding.

And YES I know exactly what you mean about being drawn to the styles that belong to another season. However, this is a darling outfit that seems to work in winter too.

  5. First of all, you would look fantastic with shorter hair!! This is an urge I'm quite familiar with. I used to chop my hair off every spring and then grow it back out. It is refreshing!

Secondly, you've layered this outfit perfectly! And I love the little peek of animal print.

  6. Ah, the hair cut urges! This is me, every other month. I've been growing my hair out for nearly two years, and I know if I chop it I'll curse myself, but I can't stop admiring Kimbra's fluffy, curly bob haha. That shouldn't discourage you, though. You have a great face for short hair. :)

    This outfit is divine. Really.
